World’s First! Launching a mail-order analysis kit for the aging marker “Telomere Length” MIRAILAB’s Health Analysis Series named MiRMes (Mirmes)

Mirailab Bioscience Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Megumi Tanaka) has developed a mail-order analysis kit called the “Chromosome Aging Analysis Kit – Telomere Check,” which allows you to measure the marker of cellular aging, “Telomere Length,” from the comfort of your own home. This kit, which is the first of its kind worldwide, enables the quantification of the length of telomeres, which protect the genomic DNA within cells. Furthermore, utilizing our proprietary research accumulated through studies such as the clinical research (1) announced in October 2022, it is possible to assess the degree of cellular aging based on the obtained numerical values.

This kit will be available for purchase on our company’s e-commerce site starting from August 4, 2023. Prior to the official release, we are offering pre-orders at a special price of ¥38,500 (tax included) starting from July 7, 2023.

※ The Health Analysis Series for mail-order analysis is available only within Japan.

Furthermore, Mirailab Bioscience Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo, Representative Director: Megumi Tanaka) has named the health analysis series, which includes this kit, as “MiRMes (Mirailab Remote Medical Check Series).” With the release of this kit, the MiRMes lineup consists of the following three products:

① “Mitochondria Quantitation Kit – Energy Check” released on August 1, 2022, priced at ¥16,500 (including tax)

To utilize this kit, purchasers can send their self-collected saliva samples by mail, eliminating the need to visit a medical institution, and the length of telomeres can be measured. Our company has established a testing method using PCR-based technology to quantify the length of telomeres in cells present in saliva. Through clinical research targeting individuals of various ages, including the clinical research (1) announced in October 2022, we have built a proprietary database. Based on the measured telomere length derived from the samples received by mail, we utilize our database to assess the body’s condition and degree of aging and provide a report via email.

Telomeres are structures located at the ends of chromosomes within cells and play a crucial role in protecting important genetic information. During cell division and replication, a small portion of telomeres is lost, causing them to become shorter. Over the course of several decades in a human lifespan, many cells undergo repeated divisions for metabolic processes. As a result, telomeres within cells shorten with age. When telomeres become critically short, cells can no longer divide and generate new cells. This is believed to be a contributing factor to aging. Shortened telomeres are also associated with an increased risk of age-related diseases (2).

The shortening of telomeres is significantly influenced by lifestyle and environmental factors. It is believed that improving one’s lifestyle can slow down the rate of telomere shortening (3). Recent research papers have also suggested the possibility of telomere elongation through the intake of Nicotinamide Mononucleotide (NMN) (4, 5). Additionally, Nicotinamide Adenine Dinucleotide (NAD+), produced as a precursor within cells from NMN, has been suggested to mitigate the adverse effects on health, even if telomeres are shortened (6).

As the leading company in the sale of NMN supplements, being the first in the world, we strive for the global realization of “Productive Aging” based on scientific evidence. Through the expansion of the MiRMes health analysis series, the supply of NMN supplements, NMN intravenous research reagents, NMN-infused cosmetics, and other endeavors, we aim to contribute to the improvement of Quality of Life.
